Lucienne Beaudry Loiselle

Author

Lucienne Beaudry Loiselle gave over three dedicated years to the carefully researched history project within, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Festival du Voyageur in 2019. Lucienne and her husband were Official Voyageurs in 1977, 1978, and 1979. They have been members of the Order of Official Voyageurs since 1979 and, to this day, Festival can invariably rely on their tireless dedication.

A proud Métis woman, Lucienne worked in French-language education and special education as a teacher and remedial specialist for 40 years. She is a passionate activist devoted to her community, and has always been driven to share her knowledge, to trail-blaze, and to defend her values. Her efforts and undertakings include: contributing to the creation of the Beaver scout program for the French-language Association des Scouts du Canada; teaching French-Canadian jigging with the Ensemble folklorique de la Rivière-Rouge; helping create the French-Canadian Pavilion at Folklorama; establishing a major neighbourhood improvement initiative for North St. Boniface; and spearheading the Provencher Park redevelopment project. She is a member of the Council of Canadians and is also deeply committed to protecting the environment and our drinking water.

Lucienne Beaudry Loiselle received the Scouts Canada Award, the National Excellence Award for Teachers and, with her husband, was co-recipient of the Prix Riel award for their contribution to French-language cultural life in Manitoba.
